Eden Mills Celebrates the Making of its “Carbon Neutral” Heritage Community Hall

The Eden Mills Community Club is proud to announce that the 100-year-old Community Hall, the heart of the village, has been retrofitted to carbon neutrality! On Sunday, November 18, 2018, this remarkable achievement will be celebrated at the Hall. Eden Mills Going Carbon Neutral Celebrates 6th Anniversary

On Sunday, December 1, Eden Mills celebrated the 6th anniversary of its launch to become the first village in North America to “go carbon neutral.” In order to achieve carbon neutrality, the village needs to balance the amount of CO2 which it emits and absorbs. Eden Mills Community Club Awarded $15,000 grant from Farm Credit Canada

The Eden Mills and District Community Club is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant of $15,000 for its Community Hall Energy Retrofit project. The grant will be applied to the cost of a new heating/cooling system, specifically to the purchase of an air-to-air heat pump. Please see media release for more.
Ontario Trillium Foundation supports work of Eden Mills Going Carbon Neutral

Eden Mills Going Carbon Neutral has received a grant of $120,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The OTF is an agency of the Government of Ontario. Please visit the Trillium website at http://www.otf.ca.

Eden Mills’ Richard Lay Winner of two Awards for Excellence in Engineering

The Ontario Community of Eden Mills is known for its goal to be the first village in North America to “Go Carbon Neutral.” Its success stems from its residents. One such resident is a professional engineer, Richard Lay, who has not only provided expert advice and example to the Village, but who is also a leader in the field of sustainable building design in Canada. This fall he has received two major awards from the University of Guelph School of Engineering and the Association of Canadian Consulting Engineering Companies, awards which recognize the scope of his contributions.
